What is aspect ratio?

Aspect ratio is the shape of your picture: its width compared with its height. It isn't the size in pixels. A 4:5 picture is 4 parts wide for every 5 parts tall, however big it is.

The shapes you can pick

• 1:1 (square): profile pictures, Instagram posts and square prints.
• 4:5 (portrait): Instagram portrait posts and 8 x 10 prints.
• 3:4 (three-quarter): classic portrait photos and 6 x 8 or 12 x 16 prints.
• 2:3 (full length): full-length portraits and 4 x 6, 8 x 12 or 12 x 18 prints.
• 3:2 (landscape): horizontal photos and 6 x 4 or 12 x 8 prints.
• 16:9 (wide): screens, YouTube thumbnails, banners and desktop wallpaper.
• 9:16 (story): phone wallpapers, Stories, Reels and TikTok.

Which one should I choose?

Pick the shape of the place the picture is going. A picture for a phone wallpaper looks best at 9:16, and one for a website banner at 16:9. For a print, pick the shape of the frame, so nothing important gets trimmed off.

If you leave it on Default, you get the shape the style was designed for, or 4:5 portrait when it has none.

Can I change it later?

Not for a picture that's already made: the AI composes the whole picture for the shape you picked. Make it again in the new shape instead.
